In a spirit of unity and shared national purpose, a former Commissioner For health and one time Deputy Chief of Staff in Oyo state, Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, has extended warm felicitations to the people of Oyo State, particularly the Christian and Muslim faithfuls, as they commence the sacred periods of Lent and Ramadan.

In a statement personally signed, Dr. Gbadegesin called on residents to embrace the virtues of sacrifice, reflection, and charity that define both religious observances.

“As our brothers and sisters in the Christian faith observe the 40-day period of Lent, and our Muslim brethren prepare for the holy month of Ramadan, we are reminded that these two sacred traditions share a common foundation of fasting, prayer, and compassion for the less privileged,” Dr. Gbadegesin stated.

He highlighted that the simultaneous occurrence of Lent and Ramadan is a powerful pointer to Nigeria’s rich religious diversity and a call for greater tolerance and understanding.

“These periods offer a unique opportunity for us to look beyond our differences and focus on our collective humanity.

They are times for spiritual cleansing and for strengthening the bonds of community,” he added.
