The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) Project WISE team, in collaboration with officials of the Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI), on Wednesday, 30 September 2026, carried out a follow-up enforcement operation at Costain Under Bridge and Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) to sustain the gains recorded during the previous day’s exercise and prevent the return of illegal street traders to the cleared locations.

During the operation, the team monitored the affected areas and dislodged traders found attempting to return to the road corridors and other unauthorised locations. The traders were sensitised and directed to vacate the areas and desist from engaging in illegal trading activities. The exercise was aimed at ensuring continuous compliance, maintaining free movement for pedestrians and motorists, and preserving a clean, orderly, and safe environment within the Costain and TBS axis.

The Authority reiterated that follow-up monitoring is essential because clearing an area is only the immediate task. Preventing reoccupation and ensuring sustained compliance are the outcomes that determine whether enforcement achieves lasting results. The team will continue to monitor the locations to prevent reoccupation and ensure sustained compliance.

Traders and members of the public are advised to operate only in authorised locations and to dispose of waste responsibly through approved PSP operators. LAWMA reaffirmed its commitment to working with relevant agencies to maintain a cleaner, healthier, and more orderly Lagos.
