The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) Waste Investigation, Surveillance and Enforcement (WISE) operatives have served enforcement notices to multiple facilities across Alausa and Surulere corridors, as part of the Authority’s ongoing zero-waste tolerance policy enforcement. The operations, carried out on Wednesday, 12th August 2026, targeted businesses and households that have persistently violated environmental sanitation laws by failing to patronise assigned PSP operators and lacking proper waste containment systems.

In the Alausa axis, Project WISE operatives visited Unity Mechanic Workshop, located along Oregun Road beside the Lagos State Arts and Culture Centre in Ikeja. The facility was found to be in violation of waste bill payment compliance requirements and lacked zero-waste point containerisation within its garage premises, despite several enlightenment campaigns on the zero-waste tolerance policy. A 48-hour environmental infractions default notice was served to the facility, mandating immediate compliance.

In a separate operation along the Agege Motor Road corridor, Project WISE West District operatives extended enforcement action to facilities around Empire Railway, inward Jibowu, in the Yaba and Surulere areas. The inspection revealed that several facilities were not patronising LAWMA-assigned operators and lacked proper waste containerisation. The affected facilities include Chisco Transport, Edegbe Motors 1 and 2, Hoff Decor, Bendel Cool Inn, Civic Bar and Hotel, and several residential properties at House 5, 7, and 15 along Agege Motor Road, Moshalasi, Surulere Local Government Area.

All the named facilities were served default and Intention to Seal notices, giving them 48 hours to apply necessary compliance measures. The Authority warned that failure to comply within the stipulated timeframe would result in the sealing of the affected premises and further sanctions.

The enforcement action underscores LAWMA’s commitment to enforcing the zero-waste tolerance policy across all commercial and residential areas in Lagos. The Authority reiterated that all businesses and households must patronise assigned PSP operators and ensure proper waste containment to maintain a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environment.
