The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has released its weekly work update, showing that 11 of the 15 routes in this week’s programme have recorded field updates, with key outcomes spanning waste clearance, routine collection, and interim service arrangements in communities affected by PSP termination.

According to the update, Mile 2 has been cleared, with routine collection sustained in the area. On the Doyin-Orile corridor, three additional trucks were deployed to strengthen evacuation capacity. Daily service was maintained on Ijesha Road and Itire-Ikate, while the Bucknor-Ijegun corridor was cleared with a three-times-weekly collection schedule now in place.
The Agency disclosed that Okeira and Oluodo are now under LAWMA interim service following the termination of their PSP operators, ensuring that residents in those communities continue to receive waste collection services despite the transition. Collection was also sustained at Ogolonto and Igbokusu, while Obalende was cleared, provided with a bin, and placed under surveillance to prevent re-dumping.
Clearance operations are continuing at Iraye, with the Agency noting that the work is progressing steadily. However, four routes remain awaiting field updates: Apapa, Abesan Estate, Idimu-Ejigbo Road, and the Isheri-Igando corridor.
LAWMA emphasised that the objective of the weekly programme is not simply to remove visible waste, but to progress from clearance to sustained collection and the prevention of recurrence. The Agency noted that clearing an area without addressing the underlying service gaps or behavioural issues only leads to waste returning to the same location. Each route, therefore, is being assessed not just on how quickly it is cleared, but on whether a dependable collection arrangement has been established afterwards.
Residents are encouraged to report service issues, missed pickups, and environmental violations through the Agency’s toll-free lines: 08000052962 and 07080601020. The Agency reaffirmed its commitment to responsive service delivery and to ensuring that no community is left behind in the pursuit of a cleaner, healthier Lagos.
