WHERE I STAND ON OYO STATE APC GOVERNORSHIP ISSUES

A Statement By Dr. Moshood Wasiu Abiola (MOWA)

Fellow APC members, stakeholders, and the good people of Oyo State,

In recent days, many of my supporters, political associates, and well-wishers across Oyo State and the diaspora have asked me: Where do I stand regarding the Oyo State APC Governorship issue? This statement is to make my position very clear and unambiguous.

1. I AM A PARTY LOYAL MAN

I have been a committed and loyal member of the All Progressives Congress since its formation. I was a member of the APC Presidential Campaign Council in 2015 and 2019, Convener of APC Nigeria Support Group since 2014, the Country Director General of Nigeria Diaspora for Asiwaju and presently National Secretary for Homeland Mobilization Renewed Hope Ambassadors Diaspora. My loyalty to the party is total and non-negotiable.

2. I PARTICIPATED IN THE PARTY RECONCILIATION EFFORTS

As a demonstration of my commitment to peace and victory, I actively participated in the party’s reconciliation efforts to heal wounds and unite our party ahead of 2027. I believe that without unity, we cannot win.

3. MY VISIT TO IBADAN – 20TH & 21ST AUGUST 2026

To be part of this process, I traveled to Ibadan on the 20th and 21st of August 2026 where I held fruitful consultations with the leadership of our great party.

I met with:

  • The National Chairman of APC, Prof. Nentawe G. Yilwatda
  • The National Secretary, Dr. Ajibola Basiru
  • The Deputy Governorship Candidate, Hon. Soji Adedeji
  • The APC Governorship Candidate, Senator Barrister Sharafadeen Alli BSA, and other party leaders.

These meetings were constructive and focused on the way forward for APC in Oyo State.

4. I STAND WITH MY PARTY AND ALL PARTY CANDIDATES

Following those engagements and after due consideration, I wish to state clearly: I stand with my party, the APC, and all its candidates, notwithstanding how they emerged. The party is supreme. Once a candidate has emerged, the duty of every true party man is to support and work for victory.

5. I STAND FOR PARTY UNITY AND PROGRESS

I stand for party unity and progress. A divided house cannot defeat the opposition. Oyo State APC must come together as one family if we are to reclaim Oyo State in 2027 and contribute meaningfully to the reelection of our President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR.

Every aspiration has limitation and definition. I aspired to govern Oyo State because I believe I am qualified, competent, and have the capacity to deliver good governance. But the party has decided where it is going, and as a loyal party man, I abide by that decision in good faith.

In this spirit, I appeal to all other aspirants to do the same – to let us sheath our swords, embrace one another, and work together for the greater goal.

I call on all my supporters, structures, and coordinators across all 33 Local Governments of Oyo State to join me in supporting Senator Barr. Sharafadeen Alli BSA and Hon. Soji Adedeji and all other APC candidates.

APC is one. Oyo is ours to win.

Thank you.
