The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) Waste Investigation, Surveillance and Enforcement (WISE) team, on Monday, 7th September 2026, began serving compliance notices on all residents and businesses along Isolo Road, Mushin, as part of efforts to address the incessant illegal waste disposal activities on the roads and street verges in the area.

The enforcement operation, which is aimed at restoring environmental order and ensuring compliance with the State’s sanitation laws, targets residents and business owners who have persistently engaged in indiscriminate dumping of waste on roads and street verges. The compliance notices serve as a formal directive for property owners to immediately cease illegal waste disposal practices and to subscribe to approved waste management services.

The operation is expected to continue on Tuesday, 8th September 2026, extending to Daleko Market and Iyana Isolo, where enforcement teams will serve similar notices and engage with traders and residents. The Authority has warned that failure to comply with the notices would result in further sanctions, including the sealing of premises and prosecution of offenders.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of LAWMA, Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, reiterated the Authority’s zero-tolerance stance on indiscriminate waste disposal, stating that the enforcement exercise is part of a broader strategy to ensure that all residents and businesses comply with environmental regulations. He urged the public to cooperate with enforcement teams and to patronise only approved PSP operators for waste collection.
Residents and business owners along the affected routes are advised to ensure proper waste containerisation and to dispose of their waste through authorised channels. The Authority reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environment across Lagos State.
