The Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, has announced that the monthly Environmental Sanitation Exercise will hold across the State on Saturday, June 27, 2026, calling on residents to actively participate in cleaning their homes, surroundings, drainage channels, markets, business premises, and public spaces within their communities.

In a statement issued ahead of the exercise, Wahab emphasised that a cleaner and healthier Lagos is a collective responsibility, urging residents to embrace proper waste disposal, regular environmental maintenance, and adherence to sanitation guidelines. He noted that these practices are essential to preventing flooding, reducing environmental hazards, and promoting public health across the State.

The Commissioner also called on community leaders, market associations, and business operators to support the exercise and contribute their quota towards building a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable Lagos. He stated that the monthly sanitation exercise, which has been reinstated under the present administration, has recorded massive public participation and is part of the government’s broader strategy to transition Lagos into a zero-waste economy.

Wahab encouraged residents to clear their drainage channels and ensure that waste is properly bagged and disposed of through approved PSP operators. He reiterated the government’s commitment to environmental cleanliness and assured residents that enforcement agencies would be on ground to ensure compliance.

“Together, let’s keep Lagos clean, healthy, and livable for all,” the Commissioner said.
