The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has intensified its enforcement operations along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, targeting cart pushers involved in indiscriminate waste disposal and other environmental violations within the axis. The operation, carried out on Sunday, 20 September 2026, focused on identified locations along the expressway where cart pushers were observed operating and contributing to improper waste disposal.

During the operation, the enforcement team moved through the affected areas and seized several carts operating in violation of the State’s environmental laws. The exercise was aimed at preventing the re-emergence of illegal dumping points and ensuring that the environmental improvement achieved along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway is sustained. The corridor has been the focus of sustained enforcement operations in recent months, including the clearance of illegal squatters, shanties, and makeshift structures from the median.

The Authority reiterated that the activities of cart pushers who operate without authorisation and dump waste at undesignated locations remain a significant challenge to environmental sanitation efforts. Such activities undermine the gains recorded through sustained enforcement and cleanup operations along the corridor. LAWMA reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining enforcement operations and working with relevant stakeholders to ensure that the environmental improvements achieved along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway are not reversed.
Residents and business owners along the corridor are urged to patronise approved PSP operators for waste collection and to avoid engaging the services of illegal cart pushers. The Authority encouraged the public to report any illegal waste disposal activities in their communities through its official channels.
